The breeding farm was started in 1994 and completed 1998. The first breeding stock was imported from Zimbabwe and went into production in that year. Our local breeding strategy has saved the company the costs of importing fertilized eggs and now are only imported in cases where production can not meet the demand.
Our hatchery is made up of Chick Master machines and has a full capacity of 500,000 eggs per month.
The physical structures on the present farm include 20 well ventilated chicken house structures with coverage of about 20000 square metres in total. They are fitted with automatic drinking lines (systems) and feeding systems
Additional Facilities include;
- A feed mill with capacity of 4 tonnes per hour. The present total feed consumption is about 2,500 tonnes per year
- A staff house of 400 square metres
- An office block and
- 2 stand by generators to ensure that power is always available to the hatchery.
The poultry farm has two boreholes and a reserve tank of 12000 litres. Presently Biyinzika Enterprises Ltd’s daily water requirements of 20,000 litres are supplied through the borehole situated on the farm.
The breeder farm stocks between 40,000 – 60,000 broiler breeders and between 20, 000 – 25,000 layer breeders every year. These birds are bred in Europe and cost $ 5 when they are day old but are worth $ 30 at the point of production.
Because these are parent stock consisting of male and female line with desirable characteristics to be passed onto the offspring, the feeding and vaccination is quite different from commercial chickens or day old chicks sold to the market.
