In line with the company's growth objectives, Biyinzika Enterprises has expanded to producing and processing of dressed and frozen chicken targeting both the local and export market.
This new line of business is to help BEL to grow and consolidate its market position as an integrated supplier of a variety of poultry products and to strategically position itself to take advantage of emerging local and regional market opportunities.
This expansion strategy involves:
Water: A borehole to supply water to the chicken processing plant in place. The facility is designed in such a manner that rainwater can be harvested into a water tank to ensure water storage for constant water supply. All water is treated before use.
Packaging material: The processed chicken is packed in polythene bags ready for distribution.
Processing of Broilers:
Ready chicken;
At the age of 6-7 weeks, broilers ready for slaughter are transferred to the slaughter house of the poultry processing plant.
Rejected chicken;
Rejected chicken arising from injuries and other illnesses are culled and destroyed.
Products:
Chicken is packed into various sizes and cut ready to be distributed to retail outlets and other institutions
Contribution:
Apart from creating capacity to process commercial broilers, BEL creates market to small scale broiler farmers, who buy day old chicks from it to get an opportunity to sell their mature birds to the company.
